Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards have decided upon tabling new contract talks with first-team stars at Anfield rather than fork out money to bring in new faces to the club with the summer transfer window underway.
Liverpool have made somewhat of an instant impact this summer by bringing in the highly-rated Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig in a long-term deal to shore up the defensive options after last season’s gruesome injury crisis.
Reports from the Liverpool Echo claim that Konate’s signing could turn out to be the only piece of transfer business for the Merseysiders with Klopp keen on ensuring his star players commit their long-term future in the Liverpool shirt.
Efforts to kickstart talks over new and extended deals with the likes of Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah is understood to be a matter of priority for those at Anfield as the Liverpool fanbase can now expect a much quieter transfer window from their club.
Liverpool, however, do remain in the running as per speculation to make a couple of major moves in this summer’s window with Brighton’s Yves Bissouma believed to be high on Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist as the latter searches for a replacement with Gini Wijnaldum saying his goodbyes.
