Liverpool urged to part ways with first-team outcast Joe Gomez

Liverpool have been to part ways with first-team outcast Joe Gomez by the former Aston Villa man Gabby Agbonlahor who reckons an exit should benefit both parties.

Gomez put pen to paper on a new long-term deal only last summer despite the lack of regular first team football coming his way over the past year with Liverpool bringing in Ibrahima Konate to bolster their backline options.

With Konate emerging as a serious contender for a starting berth on the Liverpool team sheet alongside defensive mainstay Virgil van Dijk, Gomez fell further down the pecking order at Anfield in a setback to his Liverpool future.

The ongoing season has been no different for the England international centre-back who has struggled for consistency in form and fitness issues as Liverpool are now told to sanction the player’s sale over the coming transfer windows.

Speaking to talkSPORT ( via The Liverpool Echo), ex-Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor has said that Gomez’s recent run of form does not warrant his stay on Merseyside as Jurgen Klopp should be looking to green light a move elsewhere for the defender.

I would sell. I think he has one good game then two bad games, he doesn’t have the form that Liverpool need.”
