Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid Confirmed Lineups – Jota starts, Thiago on the bench

Jurgen Klopp rings in changes to his Liverpool starting team sheet for the midweek contest at Anfield against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League group stage.

Diogo Jota comes in for Roberto Firmino in the forward lineup while Thiago Alcantara features on the bench following his return from injury.

Changes in the backline for the hosts

Joel Matip had been one name expected by many for a return to the centre-back role and Klopp fields his star defender with Ibrahima Konate dropping down to the bench.

The other change in the Liverpool backline is Andy Robertson being replaced by Kostas Tsimikas who slots in at left-back with Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold retaining their spots from the Brighton draw.

Fabinho returns, Chamberlain handed a surprise start

Two changes are also on show in the centre of the park for Jurgen Klopp’s side with Fabinho making his first appearance after a recent injury layoff as the Brazilian returns to his usual defensive midfield role.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is handed a rare outing with Jurgen Klopp unable to call upon Naby Keita’s services following his hamstring trouble sidelining him for the forthcoming games.
