Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool outfit are showing interest in shoring up their options at the back once again this summer with a long-term Anfield target in Napoli colossus Kalidou Koulibaly being eyed up.
Reports from The Mirror suggest that the Merseyside giants are keen on bringing in the Senegal central defender who has been one of the top defensive names in Serie A football over the past couple of years.
Liverpool’s interest in signing the 30-year-old talent is certainly not new with Klopp being linked with making a move for Koulibaly earlier as well but following Ibrahima Konate’s arrival on Merseyside this summer, Klopp further bolstering his centre-back options would puzzle many heading into the new campaign.
However, speculation is rife that Liverpool are hopeful of Napoli lowering their asking price for their prized defensive asset who is valued at €50 million by the Italians with Liverpool keen on landing his signature for €10 million less.
Konate’s move to Anfield from RB Leipzig remains Liverpool’s sole purchase of the summer transfer window so far as the Liverpool boss Klopp remains on the lookout for a new central midfield figure to fill the void left by Gini Wijnaldum’s exit for Paris Saint-Germain.
