Liverpool winger Luis Diaz edging closer to return from his long-term knee injury

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz is edging closer to return from his long-term knee injury with the Columbian attacker pictured out on the Kirkby grass doing running sessions.

Diaz has been missing in action for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds since the turn of the year following a recurrence of his knee injury at Liverpool’s winter training camp in Dubai mid season.

According to a report from The Daily Mirror, it is claimed that Diaz is eyeing a return to the Liverpool fold in time for the Champions League last-16 second leg at Real Madrid which holds much importance for an under-fire Reds.

Liverpool go up against top four hopefuls Necastle United next in the Premier League this weekend with a win over the Magpies set to bring them just six points adrift of Eddie Howe’s high flyers who sit in the Champions League qualification spot in the table.

Real Madrid make the trip to Anfield next Tuesday for the first leg tie of the Champions League Last 16 clash against Klopp’s men and league games against Crystal Palace, Wolves, Manchester United and Bournemouth are due to follow.
