Liverpool’s three-man frontline backed to hold key to title-winning glory

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Cambell has suggested that Liverpool’s star-studded front trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are key to potential title-winning glory for the Merseysiders this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s men got the new season off to a flying start with a 3-0 win over the Premier League’s new boys Norwich City on the opening day clash at Carrow Road with both Firmino and Salah getting on the scoresheet besides another star frontman in Diogo Jota.

Liverpool are being backed to reclaim the top-flight crown after last season’s timid defence of the title from the Reds allowed Manchester City to clinch the coveted trophy.

The likes of Firmino and Mane failed to hit the ground running in a consistent manner last time around which left Salah along with new signing Jota to do much of the work in the final third of the pitch.

Speaking to Football Insider, Campbell said that should the Firmino-Mane-Salah combine come clutch for Liverpool in big-name fixtures this season, Liverpool will be heavily tipped for getting their hands on the biggest prize in English club football.

“If Liverpool are going to go anywhere close to winning the league, those three have to be hitting the highs they did a couple of seasons ago.

“They dispatched Norwich pretty comfortably. Norwich had a good go, but Liverpool were just ruthless and way too strong.

“When they won the league, the front three were the difference in the crunch fixtures against the big teams. They came up with all the answers and all the goals.

“It remains to be seen how they can go against a bigger team this season. It’s certainly an encouraging start.”
