As per the Independent, Manchester City are racing ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign Bayern Munich sensation Jamal Musiala in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old German talent has won admirers this season even if his club has performed poorly in the Bundesliga. Musiala was once part of Chelsea’s academy and he is not new to English football.
Man City are now looking to welcome him to the Premier League and are ready to test Bayern’s stance. Liverpool are also interested in signing the youngster but it is said that their fierce rivals hold an extra edge in this race.
The Citizens are looking for a long-term successor for Kevin De Bruyne and the Bundesliga star fits the role perfectly. It won’t be too easy to sign him since his parent club might have already planned a long-term contract for their prized asset.

The midfielder’s contract at the Allianz Arena ends in 2026 and Bayern may not be in a worrying position. The youngster is yet to open talks with the club and the Bavarians don’t want to lose him for cheap.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are eyeing a long-term midfielder and the Fenway Sports Group will be eyeing upcoming superstars in the post-Klopp era.
They are known to nurture talented players and have given opportunities to several players like Conor Bradley, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, etc.
Bayern’s current position in the league doesn’t help them in their plans to retain Musiala. They are 11 points adrift of first-placed Bayer Leverkusen.
They need to convince the German talent that they have the right project to help him succeed. Thomas Tuchel’s departure might bring a twist in this race as the club could regain their form under a new manager.

It remains an open race with both Man City and Liverpool eager to win this race. However, only time will tell whether the Reds can lure such future superstars to Anfield.
They have missed out on their targets in the past few transfer windows and they won’t take a risk this time around.
