Liverpool have confirmed a major outgoing for this summer’s transfer window with Anfield outcast Marko Grujic signing for FC Porto on a permanent basis in a deal worth £10.5 million.
The Serbian international midfield man was heavily linked with a move away from Merseyside ahead of the start of the new season with FC Porto the prime candidate to land his signature.
Grujic spent the 2020-21 season on loan at the Portuguese outfit and the player had been keen on the idea of staging a return to Estádio do Dragão but this time on a permanent basis with Liverpool backed to offload him and raise funds for their summer activity.
Reports from Liverpool’s official website confirm that the 25-year-old midfielder has joined the Portuguese club thereby drawing curtains on his six-year-long association with the Reds over the course of which he failed to cement a first-team berth in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Grujic was Klopp’s first signing following the German coach taking charge at Anfield but the player was not able to make a lasting impact on the Liverpool boss who sanctioned a number of loan spells for Grujic in the subsequent years.
