Michael Edwards hoping to tie down Mohamed Salah to new deal

Liverpool’s outgoing sporting director Michael Edwards is reportedly hoping to tie down Mohamed Salah to a new deal at Anfield which would dispel the rumours surrounding the latter’s future.

The Egypt international wide man remains the central figure in the Liverpool ranks under Jurgen Klopp and his goalscoring form has been key to the club’s fortunes early on this campaign.

Speculation, however, is rife whether the 29-year-old will renew his terms on Merseyside and commit his long-term future to Liverpool where he has enjoyed great success leading the forward lineup.

According to reports from TeamTalk, it is suggested that Michael Edwards, who is due to depart the Anfield fold next summer, will prioritise a contract extension for Salah and give a much-coveted parting gift to the Liverpool camp.

Edwards will have another task on his hands ahead of his exit which is to bring in fresh blood for the attacking roster at Anfield with Leeds United talisman Raphinha understood to be a top name on the shopping list for Jurgen Klopp.
