German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach have opened talks to extend former Liverpool target Florian Neuhaus’s contract beyond the summer of 2024.
Neuhaus had been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in the summer with the Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp zeroing in on the Germany international as a top name on his shopping list to reinforce his engine room.
Liverpool, however, decided against making a former approach for the Monchengladbach maestro and it appears that the Bundesliga side are now gearing up to enter into negotiations with the player for a new long-term deal.
According to a report from the German publication BILD ( via The Daily Mirror), it is claimed that Gladbach are hoping to tie the player down to extended terms as confirmed by the recent remarks made by the club’s sporting director Roland Virkus.
The Reds, meanwhile, have another top target in the German top flight for next summer in the shape of Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham who has dazzled Klopp and Liverpool with his displays at the World Cup.
