Nat Phillips still sidelined but Curtis Jones to return reveals Jurgen Klopp ahead of Newcastle fixture

Liverpool FC are set to miss Nat Phillips for a second successive fixture as the Reds gear up to play hosts to Newcastle United at Anfield this Saturday afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp’s side should, however, welcome back Curtis Jones from his recent spell on the sidelines with muscle trouble which disallowed the midfield starlet to take part in any of the last three outings.

Klopp confirms Phillips ruled out for Saturday’s Anfield showdown

The 23-year-old Phillips had been absent for the recent game against Leeds United in which Liverpool FC could only secure a point from their visit to Elland Road.

Despite strong speculation that the central defender would be included in the matchday squad come Saturday, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed in his pre-game press conference that the player had not staged a return to training ahead of the forthcoming fixture but Curtis Jones would be in line for selection after having made a successful recovery.

“No, Nat Phillips is not back. Curtis is back, yeah, that’s true. All the others not.”

The Liverpool manager speaks out on Jordan Henderson’s injury situation

Skipper Jordan Henderson remains a couple of weeks away from marking his return to the first-team fold at Anfield as the England international nurses a groin injury sustained in February.

Klopp confirmed that the 30-year-old Henderson was not in the running to be made available before playing down fears of Diogo Jota being a new addition to the recovery table list for Liverpool FC.

“Not really, I don’t know. ( when asked about Henderson’s availability)

“Nobody told me, so it’s for sure not in the next couple of weeks.”

He added: “Diogo is fine, Diogo is fine.”
