Newcastle United enter race to sign Liverpool midfield target Khephren Thuram

As stated by the Liverpool Echo, Newcastle United is said to be entering the competition to secure the services of key Liverpool midfield target Khephren Thuram.

Following their return to the Champions League after a long hiatus, the Magpies have been linked with numerous players in the transfer market.

Recent reports suggest that manager Eddie Howe is contemplating potential signings such as Marc Cucurella from Chelsea and Nicolo Barella from Inter Milan. Newcastle is actively exploring options to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

They are considering the possibility of signing Nice midfielder Thuram to bolster their midfield options. The 22-year-old had an impressive season in Ligue 1, contributing two goals and four assists in 30 starts and five substitute appearances.

Nice, not qualifying for European competition next season, may be open to realistic offers for their prized asset. Liverpool and Newcastle United are both reportedly interested in signing the midfield star, who recently made his debut for the French national team.

The player is said to be valued at around £35 million, a fee that both clubs are willing to pay. With only two years remaining on his contract, Nice may be open to flexible payment structures as they cannot agree on a contract renewal with Thuram.

The progress of the transfer could be delayed due to Thuram’s involvement in the upcoming European Championship with France’s Under-21 squad.

Jurgen Klopp is seriously interested in the talented youngster and wants to make him his second signing of this season after already securing a deal for Brighton’s Alexis MacAllister.

Newcastle’s pursuit of another Liverpool target, Nicolo Barella appears unlikely, as Inter has no intention of selling the player and Barella himself is reportedly not interested in a move to St James’ Park.

The competition between both clubs has started to intensify and it remains to be seen whether the Reds can outplay their league rivals in the race to sign Thuram.
