Liverpool’s highly-rated defensive talent Nat Phillips is earning his fair share of plaudits for the contributions made by him during Liverpool’s fantastic finish to the 2020-21 Premier League season.
The 24-year-old central defender slotted into an injury-ravaged Liverpool side and made a name for himself with his brand of no-nonsense showings at the back which helped Jurgen Klopp’s side greatly in their quest to secure Champions League football.
Reports from The Sun claim that Phillips is on the radar of Premier League side Newcastle United who are looking to make a defensive signing in this summer’s transfer window.
The Magpies’ interest in Phillips comes at a time when Liverpool have splashed the cash on long-term target Ibrahima Konate who arrives at Anfield from RB Leipzig in a long-term deal and is set to provide Klopp with another big-name player to draft in the backline.
Should Liverpool receive an offer from Newcastle ahead of the new season it remains to be seen whether Klopp would be open to parting ways with Phillips who has transformed into a first-team regular in recent months for the Merseysiders.
