Newcastle United vs Liverpool Predicted Lineup and Preview | EPL 19-20

The Reds wrap up their 2019-20 Premier League campaign, having already tasted the glory of lifting the coveted trophy at Anfield earlier this week, with a visit to Newcastle United. A victory over the Magpies will allow Jurgen Klopp’s side to conclude a historic season for the Merseyside giants with 99 points.

Liverpool FC returned to winning ways with a very entertaining 5-3 win over Chelsea FC at home on Wednesday. The scoreline was a result of a wonderful display of attacking performance showcased by the Reds. Roberto Firmino got on the scoresheet, ending a goal drought at Anfield that has plagued the Brazilian forward all season.

A victory at St. James’ Park will mean the Reds end their league title-winning campaign in spectacular fashion. Moreover, with the Merseyside club already having been knocked out of the Champions League, the game against Newcastle United will be the Liverpool FC player’s last piece of the action on the pitch until the next season gets underway.

Prior to the victory over Frank Lampard’s side on Wednesday evening, the Reds had suffered a loss of form. A draw at Burnley at Anfield and a shocking loss on their travel to Arsenal ended Liverpool FC’s hopes of breaking Manchester City’s points record. However, Jurgen Klopp will be confident of his side’s ability to prevail easily on their travel to Newcastle.

Ahead of playing hosts to the Reds, Newcastle United have been in terrible form. The Magpies are on a five-game winless streak, racking up three losses and two draws in the process. However, Steve Bruce’s side had been impressive during the initial half of the season, and are poised to claim a mid-table finish.

TEAM NEWS

For the hosts, midfield starlet Sean Longstaff remains uncertain to face the Reds due to a knee injury. However, Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce admitted that the 22-year old could make a comeback for Sunday’s fixture.

Defender Emil Krafth, however, remains highly doubtful to feature against Liverpool FC with an ankle problem. Centre-back Fabian Schar remains sidelined due to shoulder dislocation and will undergo surgery.

In good news for the Liverpool FC supporters, there are no fresh injury concerns for the Merseyside club. Long-term absentees Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip will not play a part in Sunday’s game as the duo continue to recover from their respective injuries.

The game against Newcastle United will be Adam Lallana’s last as a Liverpool FC player. The English international’s contract with the Reds is set to expire following the conclusion of the 2019-20 Premier League season. Klopp could be tempted to give Lallana a few minutes off the bench on Sunday for the 32-year old’s swansong in the Liverpool FC colours.
