Official – Liverpool Signs Takkumi Minamino

According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Liverpool have officially signed Japanese forward Takum Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg and he will become a Liverpool player from January 1st.

Minamino agreed on personal terms with the Premier League leaders and also passed a medical with the Merseyside outfit on Wednesday as the move from Salzburg has been completed and the 24-year-old will become a Liverpool player from the turn of the year.

The Japanese attacker faced Liverpool twice this season while lining up for Salzburg in the Champions League group-stage encounters and impressed Klopp in the opposite dugout.

Minamino also managed to get onto the scoresheet for Salzburg in the meeting at Anfield mid-October when he struck to help the Austrian side fight back from a three goals deficit to draw level at 3-3 before Mohamed Salah netted a winner to earn all three points for Liverpool.

Even more recently, Minamino completed the 90 minutes for Salzburg as the Reds secured a place in the last 16 of the Champions League with a 2-0 victory at Red Bull Arena on December 10 and that was when Klopp decided was thoroughly keen on bringing the Japan star to Liverpool.

All in all for Salzburg, Minamino made 199 appearances finding the net 64 times, while he has also earned 22 caps for his national team and netted 11 times for Japan since making his debut back in October 2015.

Minamino then went on to state that it was always his dream to play in the English Premier League and looking forward to his time with the European champions, “To play in the Premier League was one of my targets. I think this is the top-class league in the world; I was thinking if my career as a footballer progressed smoothly, someday I would be able to play in the Premier League. But I never thought I would be able to play in this team and I’m really happy about it. I’m looking forward to it.”
