Origi is The GOAT – Robertson

Barcelona and Argentina talisman Lionel Messi may have just won his record sixth Ballon d’Or, but Liverpool left back Andrew Robertson has put forward a new suggestion for the greatest player of all time.

Belgian forward Divock Origi was one of the stars of the show for the Reds on Wednesday as the Premier League leaders thrashed their fierce local rivals Everton 5-2 at Anfield.

Origi scored twice in the first half to put his team in a comfortable position and the 25-year-old now has five goals against the Toffees placing his name the second place, only behind Robbie Fowler and Steven Gerrard in the Premier League era.

Jurgen Klopp elected to start Origi instead of Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino, and Robertson lauded the big striker, who also played an integral role in Liverpool’s dramatic win over Barcelona in the Champions League semifinal last season and also scored in the final. And the 25-year-old Robertson has admitted that Origi is a man for the big game as thee Scottish forward has Tweeted on social media, “He just loves a big game doesn’t he,”

Klopp registered his 100th win as Liverpool manager after the victory over Everton and that has also pushed Liverpool 11 points clear until Leicester City play tomorrow.

Origi scored a dramatic late injury time winner against Everton the last time they visited Anfield as well when Liverpool finished 2nd on the League table just one point behind eventual champions Manchester City. The Belgian has also played a big part in Liverpool’s Champions League success last term and could play another vital role this year as the Reds are looking to compete on all fronts this campaign.
