Ozan Kabak bids farewell to Liverpool, set to return to Schalke following expiry of loan

Ozan Kabak has said his goodbyes to Liverpool with the young Turkish defender now set to return to his parent club Schalke following the end of his loan spell at Anfield.

The centre-back had signed for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the final hours of the January transfer window earlier this year as the Liverpool boss had to make a couple of signings on deadline day to bolster his injury-hit backline.

Kabak was an instrumental presence for the Merseyside Reds at the back alongside another breakout star on Merseyside in Nat Phillips with the defensive pairing helping Liverpool clinch a much-coveted third-place finish in the Premier League which assures them of a berth in the Champions League campaign.

Despite his moderate success at Anfield in a short span of time, Klopp decided against triggering the buy-out clause in Kabak’s loan deal which would set back Liverpool a fee worth £18 million.

Kabak took to his Twitter handle to bid farewell to the Liverpool faithful with the Turkey international expressing gratitude towards Klopp and the club for giving him the chance to turn out at Anfield.
