Ex-Reds striker Peter Crouch has urged Mohamed Salah to snub Real Madrid’s interest in his signature and sign a new long-term at Anfield with Jurgen Klopp’s camp.
Salah has been a vital performer on the pitch for the Merseyside giants ever since his move to the club from AS Roma in the summer of 2017 and has proved his credential as one of the top attacking talents in world football.
The 29-year-old clocked up 100 goals in league action for Liverpool in Saturday’s outing at Brentford which finished in a 3-3 thriller for the Reds who sit top of the table.
There has been the constant talk of a move away from Anfield for the Egypt international in the near future with La Liga bigwigs Real Madrid long rumoured to be chasing Salah’s signature in a big-money deal.
Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch, however, in his column for The Daily Mail has suggested that Salah should work his way to becoming a club legend at Anfield and put pen to paper on a long-term extension, rebuffing the interest from his Spanish suitors in the process.
“I am biased, of course, but strikers are worth the money. Salah wins games.
The best thing he can do is sign a five-year deal, secure himself for life and become a club legend.
Real Madrid have been sniffing but why would he go there? There isn’t a club on the planet he could join that is better than Liverpool at this stage. Hypothetically, if he goes elsewhere in the Premier League he’ll lose what he has built at Anfield. There are no European destinations that are a no-brainer. Barcelona and Real are not the same, there are other factors with Paris Saint-Germain and the merits of Ligue 1.”
