Piotr Zielinski Set To Extend Contract With Napoli Amid Liverpool Interest

Liverpool target Piotr Zielinski has given Jurgen Klopp a bit of a setback as he is keen on signing a new contract extension with Napoli.

There is no doubt that Liverpool has strengthened their defense and attack in the summer transfer window which makes the Reds Premier League title contenders. But a lot of pundits and even the Liverpool faithful have stressed the importance of a high-quality midfielder who can stabilize the side in the center of the pitch and create chances for the forwards.

Having lost 1-0 to Napoli in their Champions League encounter at the Stadio San Paolo, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was heavily impressed with opposition midfielder Piotr Zielinski. And after having a close-up view of the Polish international, the German boss wants to make the 24-year-old his priority signing in the winter transfer window.

However, according to the latest reports coming out of news outlet Calciomercato, Napoli wants to ensure that they tie down Zielinski to the club for a longer period as manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that the young versatile midfielder is indispensable.

Zielinski has offered the Partenopei some splendid performances since the start of this season and a new contract will be offered for the Pole soon enough. Zielinski currently earns around €1.1 million a year at Napoli but his agent is demanding a salary of €3.5 million. But the more worrying factor for the Italian outlet is that Zielinski’s release clause is currently at €65 million and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants to double that figure as soon as possible in order to keep the clutched of European giants away from the midfield gem.

Liverpool will be hoping to take advantage of the wage negotiations between Zielinski’s agent and try to lure him at Anfield in the January transfer window.
