Liverpool starlet Sepp van den Berg could be set for another season-long loan spell away from Anfield with Championship outfit Preston North End weighing up a potential swoop for the centre-back heading into this summer.
The Dutch youngster moved to Preston earlier this year in a deal which coincided with the Championship side parting ways with Ben Davies who signed for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on deadline day.
According to reports from Lancashire Post, Preston enjoys the first option on a loan deal for Van den Berg should Klopp deem the defender fit for some more time away from Merseyside in order to gain valuable first-team minutes.
Klopp is hopeful of having a number of defensive options to turn next season with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all expected to return in time for the commencement of the 2021-22 campaign after seeing their ongoing season suffer an abrupt finish with long-term injury layoffs.
The Liverpool boss has, however, set his sights on further reinforcements at the back with RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate reported being almost a done deal for the Anfield giants ahead of the forthcoming summer window.
