Promising Liverpool talent Kaide Gordon will resume training after injury layoff

According to the Athletic, Promising Liverpool wonderkid Kaide Gordon is expected to resume training later this month, bringing an end to a 17-month absence due to a pelvic problem.

The injury issue has prevented the 18-year-old from participating in any matches for Liverpool at any level since February 2022.

However, his return to pre-season training will mark a significant and positive milestone. Gordon has already begun initial work on the grass last month, and this upcoming training session will be another encouraging step forward for him.

The teenage sensation etched his name in Liverpool’s history as the club’s youngest-ever scorer when he found the net against Shrewsbury in the FA Cup in January 2022.

As a talented right-winger, Gordon aspires to emulate the success of Mohamed Salah, utilizing his proficiency with his left foot.

Since joining Liverpool from Derby County in 2021, Gordon has made four appearances for the senior team. He even made an appearance in the Premier League, coming off the bench against Brentford last season.

The winger has been gradually making progress in his recovery, having already begun running and engaging in tentative ball work at the AXA Training Centre.

The talented youngster has been following a specialized training program to facilitate his rehabilitation. Liverpool recently suggested that Gordon was nearing a return to team training, and it now appears that the time has arrived.

In two weeks’ time, Gordon will make a full return, initially joining the club’s U21 side to regain his form and fitness. Liverpool’s U21 manager, Barry Lewtas, has been careful with the player and is not rushing the player back, considering the potential complications associated with his injury.
