Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio is set to snub interest from Liverpool this summer with the playmaker concerned over his potential lack of game time should he join the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been credited with a strong interest in moving in for the Spain international attacking midfielder who has fallen down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu in recent times.
With just a year to go on his current terms with Real, the Champions League holders are reportedly willing to cash in on Asensio before the transfer window slams shut to avoid losing him for nothing at the end of next season.
According to a report from sport.es, however, it is claimed that the 26-year-old Asensio, despite his lack of regular first-team opportunities at Real, is not keen on signing for Liverpool over fears of not being a guaranteed starter.
The likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota, besides the summer’s marquee signing Darwin Nunez, are the options available in the attacking third at Klopp’s disposal which has put off Asensio.
