Rio Ferdinand issues high praise for Liverpool’s new signing Darwin Nunez

Rio Ferdinand has voiced high praise for Liverpool’s new signing Darwin Nunez who arrives at Anfield for a potential club-record transfer fee.

Jurgen Klopp’s side announced the capture of the 22-year-old forward from Benfica in a deal that could potentially rise up to €100 million which would eclipse the fee paid back in 2018 to land Virgil van Dijk.

Nunez, on the back of his stellar campaign in the Benfica shirt last term in which he netted 34 goals in 41 appearances, was one of the most coveted names in the market this summer with Liverpool joined by Manchester United in the chase for his signature.

With the Reds walking away with a prized new recruit to add to their formidable attacking ranks, there are expectations on the rise that Klopp’s men would be better prepared than before to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League crown.

Ex-Manchester United defender and now a pundit for BT Sport, Rio Ferdinand, took to Twitter to say that Nunez would prove to be a brilliant piece of business for the Anfield giants.
