According to Foot Mercato, Stade Rennais are planning a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez as a potential replacement for the much sought-after Liverpool target Arthur Theate.
RB Leipzig have shown significant interest in Theate, and there are reports of them making an offer for the 23-year-old.
Liverpool have also expressed interest in the Belgian international who has greatly impressed since his arrival at Rennes last summer.
Theate, who was acquired by Rennes for approximately €19 million from Serie A side Bologna just over a year ago, has accumulated 44 appearances for Bruno Genesio’s team.
However, it seems he could be departing Roazhon Park before the transfer window closes, with RB Leipzig showing strong determination to secure his services.

The DFL Supercup champions have put forth a loan proposal to Rennes, which includes an obligation to make a permanent purchase for €30 million.
As a response to this offer, Rennes have yet to provide an official response but is already exploring potential replacements, with Sanchez firmly on their radar.
Sanchez’s agents have offered him to Rennes in a bid to remove him from Tottenham’s payroll, as he has fallen out of favour in London.
The right-footed center-back capable of playing various roles in the heart of the defense, is an attractive prospect for Rennes director Florian Maurice.
Since his €42 million move from Ajax to Tottenham in the summer of 2017, Sanchez has struggled to justify his price tag.

In recent years, the 27-year-old has found it challenging to secure a consistent starting position at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager has indicated that his time at the club has ended.
Initially, Sanchez was expected to join Russian club Spartak Moscow, but this transfer didn’t materialize, leaving the door open for Rennes to potentially pursue the underperforming defender.
Sanchez was part of Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Brentford but started the 2-0 victory over Manchester United on the bench.
