Manchester United great Rio Ferdinand has urged Liverpool to prioritise a swoop for Erling Haaland ahead of other suitors in the market for the star striker.
The Borussia Dortmund talisman has been linked with a move to Anfield in the past with Jurgen Klopp a big admirer of Haaland’s ability in the final third of the pitch.
Liverpool’s hunt for reinforcements in attack is on with the front trio of Salah, Mane and Firmino all set to 30 over the course of this campaign and Haaland’s name is one that could prove to be a viable target for the Merseysiders.
He has been immense in the Dortmund shirt since his move to Germany’s top flight but speculation remains rife over his long-term future at the club with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid keeping close tabs.
Played-turned-pundit Rio Ferdinand while speaking with BT Sport (via The Daily Mirror), reckons that Jurgen Klopp’s camp should move in for the Norway international who can make the Liverpool attacking lineup “devastating”.
“I think he suits other teams better [than Man City].
“If I was Liverpool I would take him right now.
“If he goes to Liverpool that’s a devastating front three. I don’t think it’s as hard for him to adapt if he goes to Liverpool. It’s a different system.
“You see Jack Grealish has gone to Man City, [he is a] top player, brilliant player, we all love watching him, but it’s quite hard to adapt and get into that team.
“Not many players go there and adapt immediately.”
