Liverpool to distance themselves from the battle to sign Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland to Anfield speculation which had garnered much traction in recent months might not materialise as the Reds consider the in-demand Norway international’s price tag to be well beyond their capabilities.

Reports from the Express claim that Jurgen Klopp’s side are not willing to fork out a £400 million fee over a five-year-long arrangement to bring Haaland to Merseyside.

Liverpool had been considered favourites to sign the Dortmund man

The Anfield giants had been right in the mix to make a move for the 21-year-old star striker despite there being reservation over Borussia Dortmund sticking to their price tag heading into this summer’s transfer window.

Moreover, previous reports had indicated that Haaland’s father and his agent Mino Raiola had landed in London to conduct a series of meetings with Premier League heavyweights including the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea besides Liverpool FC who were battling it out among themselves to sign Haaland.

Other forward options on Liverpool’s radar for the summer

Jurgen Klopp remains on the lookout for additional reinforcements on the attacking front for his side with players such as Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri expected to take the exit door out of Anfield ahead of the forthcoming campaign.

FC Schalke starlet Matthew Hoppe is one such cut-price alternative that could be brought to Anfield by Klopp with the young American finding success in Bundesliga football this season boasting figures of 5 goals in 17 outings.
