Robertson Does Not Want To Take Anfield For Granted

Scottish captain Andrew Robertson has warned Liverpool not to take Anfield for granted in their second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against La Liga side Atletico Madrid in three weeks time.

Champions League holders Liverpool will head into the return leg against Diego Simeone’s team on March 11th trailing 1-0 on aggregate following their defeat at the Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday night.

But although the Premier League leaders will be eyeing yet another special European outing at Anfield, 25-year-old left-back Robertson has said his team had to make sure they got the job done.

After the loss to Atleti, Robertson explained that the fans and the stadium will be buzzing on the night but Liverpool must not take the occasion for granted and stick to their gameplan, “We can’t take that for granted. Anfield’s big, Anfield’s amazing for us but we can’t take it for granted, I know the fans won’t but the fans can’t take it for granted either that it will just be another special Anfield night. We need to try and make it an Anfield night. And that’s up to the players and it’s up to the fans to all come together to try and make it a special night and hopefully we can do it.”

The Merseyside giants failed to register even one shot on target in the Spanish capital, where they were frustrated by Atletico after Saul Niguez’s fourth-minute opening goal.

Liverpool are currently holding a 25 point lead at the summit of the Premier League table and will be hoping to get the job done at Anfield and come back from the deficit.
