Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson has admitted that Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is the toughest opponent that he has ever faced in his career so far.
It has been somewhat of a fairy tale story for the Scottish left-back Andrew Robertson ever since he moved to Liverpool two seasons ago. The 25-year-old was signed by the Merseyside club back in the summer of 2017 for a mere transfer fee of £8 million when Hull City was relegated from the Premier League and has gone on to become a fan favorite at Anfield.
The Scottish full-back was one of the key men for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool as they tasted success in the Champions League this season. Arguably, the best left back in the world at the moment, Robertson has come up against the biggest of names in football and has dealt with them relatively well.
Liverpool reached the final of the Champions League last season as well and Robertson had the task of keeping Cristiano Ronaldo in check when the Portuguese winger was at Real Madrid. This season, Robertson came up against the likes of Paris Saint Germain’s Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi but the Scotsman has stated that Eden Hazard is the toughest opponent that he has ever faced.
The Belgian talisman completed a stunning move from Chelsea to Real Madrid in a €130 million last week after he helped the Blues to two Premier League titles, two Europa League’s, one League Cup and one FA Cup as well during his seven-year spell at West London.
And ahead of Belgium’s 3-0 win over Scotland, Scottish captain Andrew Robertson claimed that the 28-year-old Hazard as his toughest opponent he has ever come up against. The Liverpool defender said, “He’s probably the best player I’ve come up against, on his day. He deserves his move; he deserves all the plaudits he gets. He’s a fantastic player, a world-class player and probably one of the best in the world right now.”
