Injury Update

Salah Return Date Still Unclear

According to the latest reports, Liverpool has granted their talisman Mohamed Salah an extended period off to recover from an ankle injury that was aggravated during the Reds’ 3-1 win over title rivals Manchester City on Sunday at Anfield.

However, the Liverpool faithful would be slightly concerned about Salah as the return date from his injury remains unclear despite the continuity to receive treatment on his ankle.

The Egyptian has already scored nine goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for the Merseysiders this season, has been handed an extended period off by Liverpool as he continues his rehabilitation and will not be featuring for his national squad.

The 27-year-old winger has been ruled out of Egypt’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Kenya and Comoros after the national team’s physios deemed it would be too risky for him to play following a close examination.

Salah initially sustained the injury after a second-half challenge from Hamza Choudhury during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Leicester City earlier in October. The injury was made worse when he went down under a challenge from Manchester City defender Fernandinho during their crucial win over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City over last weekend. The forward was not immediately substituted and he went on to score the Reds’ second goal against the defending champions.

Salah still remains one of the most important players in Jurgen Klopp’s Champions League-winning team and the will be hoping to have their maverick Egyptian King back in action for the remainder of the season as soon as possible.

Liverpool currently sits at the summit of the Premier League table and Salah will be imperative towards helping the Merseyside giants achieve their first title in 30 years.
