Liverpool central defender Ben Davies remains a priority target for Sheffield United who on their return to the Championship are looking to sign a new defensive name in this summer’s transfer window.
Reports from Football Insider suggest that Davies is being eyed up by The Blades with the Bramall Lane outfit keen on bolstering their options at the back ahead of the start of the new season.
Since his move to Anfield in the final hours of the winter transfer window earlier this year, Davies has not played a minute of first-team football for his new side with a spree of injury niggles curtailing his time on the pitch.
With Jurgen Klopp opening his chequebook this summer to bring in the highly-rated young Frenchman Ibrahima Konate, Liverpool’s sole signing of the transfer window so far, Davies is in line to fall further down the pecking order with the Van Dijk-Gomez-Matip trio set to return from long-term injuries.
Sheffield United are understood to have touched base with Liverpool over a possible swoop for Davies who could find himself on the fringes of the Reds ranks when the new campaign gets underway.
