In a shock reveal by prominent Italian football reporter and journalist Fabrizio Romano, FC Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele refused a move to Liverpool FC earlier this summer.
The French international’s stint at Camp Nou has been a shadow of his brilliant run of form whilst at Borussia Dortmund, the same level of talent on the pitch that fostered his €145 million worth move to the Catalan giants in the summer of 2017.
The Reds had been linked to Dembele for a long period of time and the 23-year old’s ability as a wide-forward impressed the Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp. However, recent information coming to light has disclosed that Dembele was keen on extending his stay at FC Barcelona rather than sport the Liverpool FC colours.
Liverpool asked for Ousmane Démbélé on loan with buy option on last June, but he decided to stay at Barcelona. There’s no bid from Manchester United – because Démbélé doesn’t want to leave Barça. #MUFC and #FCB both denying talks. 🔴 #transfers #Dembele

Romano’s post on his Twitter profile made note of the fact that the Merseyside giants were hoping to sign Dembele on a loan-to-buy offer. Dembele’s addition to Klopp’s first-team squad at Anfield would have bolstered the attacking options at the German’s disposal prior to Diogo Jota’s signing that was confirmed last week.
For now, the out-of-favour FC Barcelona attacker is high on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s shortlist over at Manchester United, however, it seems as if Dembele will indicate his reluctance once again on sealing a move to the Premier League.
