Soon-to-be ex-Liverpool man Gini Wijnaldum makes major admission over his Anfield exit

Gini Wijnaldum has revealed that Liverpool will have some explaining to do concerning his imminent exit from Anfield as the Holland international gears up to sign with long-term suitors FC Barcelona.

The 30-year-old midfielder played his final game in the colours of Liverpool in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on the last day of the 2020-21 Premier League season after which he was given a warm farewell by his teammates and the Anfield faithful.

Speculation was rife in the months before Wijnaldum’s last game for the Reds that the Dutchman had shot down repeated attempts from the Anfield outfit to extend his deal which comes to a close at the end of June.

Reports from Sunday World claim Wijnaldum saying that he was still in the process of saying his goodbyes on Merseyside before adding that the fans will soon get to hear why he chose to seek an exit from Liverpool where he spent five long years after leaving Newcastle United in the summer of 2016.

FC Barcelona are on the verge of completing a deal for the player with Ronald Koeman’s Catalan giants offering a three-year deal to Wijnaldum who will now be heading to participate in this summer’s UEFA Euros with the Dutch national team.

“Why I left, you will hear again. It will come out. The club also has to explain the facts why I am gone,” he stated.

“I am still busy saying goodbye to Liverpool. I am still emotional because I got a goodbye that not many players got before me.”
