Liverpool’s attempt to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton has been rejected, as the Saints turned down an offer of £37 million for the 19-year-old midfielder.
Lavia, who joined Southampton from Manchester City last summer, made an impressive start at St Mary’s and caught the attention of Liverpool with his performances.
However, Southampton are determined to keep hold of the talented young player and declined the transfer bid from Liverpool.
Despite making 29 appearances in the Premier League last season, Lavia couldn’t prevent Southampton from getting relegated to the Championship.
As a result, the midfielder is expected to leave the club this summer, with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United expressing interest in him. However, it seems that Liverpool are currently leading the race to sign the talented Belgian.

Liverpool made a bid of £37 million to secure Lavia’s services, but Southampton turned down the offer, as reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic.
The Reds interested in signing the promising midfielder, but the Championship club are reportedly demanding around £50 million for his transfer.
The Merseyside giants have already made signings in the summer transfer window, bringing in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. However, they are seeking additional midfield reinforcements, as they expect Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to leave the club.
Klopp’s side had a disappointing 2022-23 season, finishing fifth in the Premier League and missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification.
As a result, they have offloaded several aging players, but their transfer activity is not yet complete as they aim to strengthen their squad further.
