Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara unwilling to stay at Liverpool this summer

According to the Express, Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara is willing to leave the Anfield club during the current summer transfer window.

The 32-year-old has only one year remaining on his contract with the Merseyside club, leading to speculations about his future with the team.

Alcantara’s arrival at Liverpool from Bayern Munich three years ago was seen as a clever signing, but his impact has been limited due to injury problems.

The Spanish playmaker featured in only 28 of Liverpool’s 52 games last season, and his injury record has made the club hesitant to discuss a contract extension.

Currently, Liverpool have not received any offers for Thiago, and manager Jurgen Klopp still values the former Barcelona player highly.

However, there remains a possibility of a summer departure, especially if the club receives an attractive offer from the numerous admirers of the midfielder from around the world.

The Spaniard has been linked with a potential move to Saudi Arabia, but reports suggest that he has turned down approaches from clubs in the Middle East to stay at Anfield with Liverpool.

However, despite his preference to remain at the club, both Klopp and Thiago are aware that regular playing time cannot be guaranteed, considering the midfielder’s injury history and the ongoing midfield revamp at Liverpool.

The club has made signings like Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, and there are talks of using Trent Alexander-Arnold in a hybrid midfield role.

Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott, who helped England win the under-21 European tournament, will be eager for playing time in the upcoming season, and Stefan Bajcetic has also impressed when given the opportunity.

Liverpool are considering potential reinforcements in the midfield department, with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia among the players on their radar.

This situation could further jeopardize Thiago’s future at the club, as he is not guaranteed regular playing time.

Due to the uncertainty surrounding his role at Liverpool, the Spaniard has become more open to the possibility of leaving the club this summer.

He has garnered interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray and could also re-open talks with clubs in Saudi Arabia. However, his preference is reportedly to return to La Liga if he decides to part ways with Liverpool.
