Steven Gerrard hails plaudits to Jurgen Klopp’s success at Liverpool

As Jurgen Klopp brings the Reds to Villa Park tonight, Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard believes this Liverpool side is their ‘greatest ever to watch.’

Jurgen Klopp’s current Liverpool squad has been dubbed the ‘greatest ever to watch’ in the club’s rich history by Steven Gerrard, but the Aston Villa manager has no intention of spoiling the Reds title chase when the two sides meet tonight.

With three games remaining, Liverpool’s draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday night and Manchester City’s win against Newcastle on Sunday have reduced the margin at the top to three points.

With the Reds in desperate need of a win, Gerrard understands that his team may have to put up an ‘ideal display’.

While Liverpool has an FA Cup final to contend with on Saturday evening, the Liverpool legend’s club comes into this game off a 3-1 win over Burnley. They know that anything less than success here might mean the title chase is finished.

“I think to watch they are probably the best, because of the speed, the intensity, and the mentality of this current group.”

“But I say that without disrespecting previous successful Liverpool teams, because I grew up watching them, the European Cup winners, serial league title-winners, I grew up on all the DNA of that club.”

“I’m well aware that they have had world-class players, managers and teams previously, but I think to watch – on the eye, because of the way the game has changed, it has gone quicker and faster – I think you’re probably watching the best Liverpool team there’s been.”

The Reds will be looking to avenge their 7-2 loss to Dean Smith’s side on their previous visit to Villa Park.

After winning the Carabao Cup, the 19-time league champions are facing their toughest test of the season.

With three Premier League games remaining, Klopp has arguably the easier run of fixtures than Man City, and with the Mancunians’ extensive injury list, the crown is truly up for grabs.

Klopp’s men will be playing 4 games in the space of 14 days and for sure there won’t be a single Liverpool fan who would intend to miss any of the remaining games.
