Stoke City’s Jack Butland eyed by Liverpool in a surprise swoop

According to reports from the Mirror, Liverpool FC have opened negotiations with Championship side Stoke City for signing England international Jack Butland in order to ease the tension surrounding the goalkeeping spot at Anfield following Alisson’s speculated long-term injury.

Butland has been one of the most consistent performers for the Potters since a number of years, however, has stayed put at the club despite Stoke playing in the second-tier of top-flight football in England.

But with Butland’s future at Stoke City looking bleak as well, the 27-year old is understood to be wanting a change of surroundings and would prefer to seal a move to the Reds before the mini domestic transfer window closes on October 16.

With just 12 months remaining on his current deal with the Potters, Jurgen Klopp will be hopeful of finalizing a deal for Butland on the cheap, as the Liverpool FC boss seeks to replace the under-par Adrian between the sticks, on the back of the Spaniard’s horrendous display in the recent 7-2 loss to Aston Villa.
