Jurgen Klopp gives worrying injury update on Alisson Becker post Villa loss

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Alisson Becker could be sidelined for upto six weeks as the Brazil international recovers from a shoulder injury sustained in training.

The Liverpool FC No.1 missed his side’s game at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon, with Adrian deputizing for him between the sticks. Adrian had a horrid showing in goal for the Reds as Jurgen Klopp’s men went on to suffer a humiliating 7-2 loss at the hands of Aston Villa.

In his post-game comments to Sky Sports, the Liverpool FC boss admitted that a surgery could be an option for Alisson in order to hasten his recovery process, however, doing the same would rule out the 28-year old from the Reds next Premier League fixture following the international break, a Merseyside Derby at Anfield.

“No chance to play against Everton,” Klopp said of Alisson. “We don’t know exactly.

“Let me say, it could have been worse with that injury, that’s for sure. We were slightly lucky but it’s not that he can play against Everton.

“I don’t want to put a timeframe on it but four weeks could be possible, six weeks is maybe more likely, but I don’t know. We have to assess this thing, that’s how it is.”

Alisson’s injury concern is the latest of a number of setbacks for the Liverpool FC first-team squad in recent weeks. Jordan Henderson, Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara and Sadio Mane, are all on the recovery table as the Merseyside outfit’s players head into the international break.
