Played-turned-pundit Tony Cascarino has branded Sadio Mane “the most unpredictable” Liverpool star Jurgen Klopp has at his disposal.
Mane has enjoyed a mixed bag of fortunes early on this new season for the Reds but has stepped up of late to deliver the returns in front of the goal.
The Senegalese was on the scoresheet in the 5-0 rout of the Premier League’s new boys Watford last weekend and with five goals in eight outings so far in the campaign, Mane looks his former self once again on the attacking front.
He had failed to hit the ground running for the majority of the previous campaign while his strike partner Mohamed Salah and new recruit Diogo Jota emerged as Liverpool’s main men in the forward lineup.
Speaking to TalkSport, Cascarino said that Mane’s performances put out the impression that the former Southampton man was very unpredictable in the final third of the pitch, drawing sharp contrasts to his attacking partners Salah and Roberto Firmino.
“He is the most unpredictable of the three. I think they all compliment each other. [Mohamed] Salah is direct, always gets chances, always wants to run behind, cause havoc and incredible work ethic.
“Mane does that, but he does it in a more unpredictable way, where he literally has bad games. He will have stinkers sometimes. His finishing will be off the mark, then he will be fantastic.
“Then you have [Roberto] Firmino, who sets up the play up all the time, so they all compliment each other.”
