Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool Preview, Team News, Key Battle and Prediction | Premier League

Liverpool make the travels to North London on Sunday to face off against Tottenham Hotspur in a must-win game for the visitors to get their domestic campaign back on track.

A defeat to Leeds United last time out in the Premier League, in a 2-1 result on home turf Anfield, was a big blow to Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders who had shown signs of revival with two wins on the trot.

The Liverpool head coach would be under pressure to steer his side back to winning ways in what has been a turbulent campaign so far for Liverpool with their top four hopes dismissed by many considering their recent run of form.

Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, sit third in the league standings with a 10 point lead over their upcoming opponents who have a game in hand but would be tipped as the underdogs heading into the contest with Spurs looking formidable under Antonio Conte’s charge.

The North Londoners picked up a 2-1 win over French side Marseille in midweek which ensured them of topping Group D in the Champions League and served as the perfect warning to Liverpool ahead of Sunday’s contest in the English capital city.

With their form in continent football inspiring as ever, Klopp’s Liverpool were victors in their Tuesday night’s outing at Anfield against Napoli in a 2-0 win courtsey of goals from Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez.

WHEN & WHERE?

Date: Sunday 6 November 2022

Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

TEAM NEWS

There were no fresh concerns on the injury front for Liverpool following the win over Napoli where Jurgen Klopp chose to rest a handful of his key regulars.

Jordan Henderson and Andy Robertson should be in the mix for returns to the XI while Ibrahima Konate is expected to retain his starting berth at the expense of Joe Gomez.

Darwin Nunez came off the bench to score against Napoli and he is likley to replace Curtis Jones on the left flank to join Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah up front.

KEY BATTLE

Harry Kane vs Mohamed Salah

Spurs would be without the services of Heung-min Son who was taken off in midweek with a fractured eye socket and is expected to be on the sidelines until the World Cup in Qatar later this month.

The responsibilty of keeping the goals coming for Conte’s side would fall once again on the shoulders of talisman Harry Kane who has enjoyed a stellar campaign so far with ten strikes to his name in 13 outings.

Liverpool will depend upon Mo Salah to rediscover his red hot streak of form in the final third of the pitch which has been missing from the Egyptian winger despite some signs of brilliance going forward.

MATCH PREDICTION

The home side Spurs would be billed as favourites over Liverpool due to their excellent start to the season while the Merseysiders have struggled for consistency in their performances, especially on the road.

Liverpool, however, have been surprising surprises lately, most notably in the 1-0 win over rivals Manchester City last month, and Klopp will hoping for a repeat of that from his players when they step out on Sunday.
