Trent Alexander Arnold backs 19-year old Rhys Williams to carry on impressive run of form

Rhys Williams will continue to display impressive showings in the Liverpool FC shirt over the course of this season, believes the 19-year old’s teammate Trent Alexander Arnold.

While speaking to the Reds’ official website, Liverpoolfc.com, the full-back was lavish in his praise for the teenage central defender, who has stepped up for the Champions of England in the absence of senior options a the heart of the defence, namely Van Dijk, Matip, and most recently, Fabinho.

“I think he’s an amazing player, he’s shown that over the last few weeks. He wasn’t with us much last season but he came in this season and showed how good a player he is.

“The manager obviously trusts him a lot and he’s been playing a few minutes. To be thrown in at the deep end on the biggest of stages is tough to do, tough to perform, but he never really put a foot wrong. So I think he’ll definitely be in the manager’s thoughts hopefully come the weekend and further on.”

With Fabinho being substituted after the half-hour mark in Tuesday night’s Champions League win over Midtjylland due to a supposed hamstring pull, Klopp had to put Williams on the pitch due to the Reds’ injury-hit backline leaving the boss with no other options.

The 19-year old was fantastic in his limited involvement at Anfield in the mid-week clash and is tipped for a more promising future in the first-team setup at Liverpool FC as the ongoing season progresses.
