West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen backed to be ideal Liverpool signing

West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen is backed to be an ideal signing for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp in the winter transfer window by former Leeds United man Noel Whelan.

The Hammers winger has been a star turn for his side this season and could be earning a big-money move to Anfield where the Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keen on adding him to the ranks.

Klopp is set to lose both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane at the turn of the year to the African Cup of Nations and the German is expected to use the transfer market to bring in much-needed cover in the final third.

Despite suggestions that West Ham will be turning down Liverpool’s interest in Bowen for the January window and retain him until the end of the season, the attacker has been labelled a viable target for the Merseysiders.

Speaking to Football Insider, Noel Whelan said that Bowen could prove to be a Diogo Jota-like recruitment for Liverpool with the 25-year-old earning rave plaudits for his stellar displays in the English capital.

“That one reminds me a lot of the Diogo Jota deal, he could be the next Salah.

“The way Jarrod Bowen plays, he’s very much in the mould of Mane or Salah, in terms of how he plays on the shoulder and drives at defences.

“I think we saw that yesterday with his run and then the inch-perfect pass to Said Benrahma for his goal. He really causes problems when he drives in behind.

“Also, he plays as a number nine for West Ham when Michail Antonio is out – so you know he can fill in there as well.

“It’s one that would be puzzling to a lot of people but makes real sense when you look at how Liverpool play – just like Jota.

“He’s looking for versatility, and Bowen can really cut it in the Premier League. He’s improved so much under David Moyes at West Ham, but Liverpool could be the next step for him – I can see him there – and it wouldn’t surprise me at all.

“He’s earned that speculation and that move.”
