Xherdan Shaqiri has called it quits at Anfield with the Swiss international winger making the move to Ligue 1 outfit Lyon on a permanent basis.
Reports from Liverpool’s official website confirm that the 29-year-old Shaqiri will be joining his long-term suitors in the transfer market who have long been credited with an interest in his services.
Shaqiri had been backed to head out the Anfield exit door in wake of his limited first-team involvement for Jurgen Klopp’s side in recent seasons and following an impressive campaign at this summer’s UEFA European Championships with Switzerland.
Serie A bigwigs Lazio were at one stage leading the race for the former Stoke City man but Lyon’s recent entry into the fray ensured their candidature for sealing the transfer of the wantaway Liverpool wide player.

The player leaves the Merseyside giants three summers after his switch to the Liverpool shirt and with the Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup winners medal in his kitty.
