Arsenal set to pose challenge to Liverpool for Sheffield United man Sander Berge

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could be in for a serious battle against Premier League rivals Arsenal for the signature of Sheffield United’s wantaway midfield man Sander Berge.

Reports from The Sun suggest that The Gunners are in line to join the race for the Norway international who had impressed last season in his side’s otherwise misfiring campaign which led to their relegation.

Berge has attracted considerable attention from Liverpool in the past and with Klopp now on the hunt for a new midfield player to take Gini Wijnaldum’s vacancy, the Merseysiders are backed to intensify their interest in the Blades first-teamer.

Liverpool are further expected to be challenged for Berge’s signature by Serie A duo Napoli and Lazio with the latter expected to make a couple of significant additions to their squad in this summer’s transfer window which explains their interest in Anfield outcast Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Swiss international winger’s Euros campaign came to a heartbreaking conclusion with the Swiss bowing out of the competition following a penalty shootout defeat to Spain on Friday.
