In the midst of Liverpool’s incredible start to the new Premier League season, it has been quite easy to forget that they are still without one of their most influential players in Alisson Becker.
Their seven-game winning streak has seen very helpful in pulling away from Manchester City giving the Reds a five-point lead at the top of the table. But Liverpool has achieved that feat with new summer signing Adrian taking up the goalkeeping duties after first-choice stopper Alisson Becker lasted only less than half of their season opener against Norwich City before being withdrawn due to a calf injury.
Since Alisson’s absence, Adrain has done quite a fine job, apart from that horrific mistake against Southampton. He has made some key saves at crucial moments and the 32-year-old Spaniard has been impressive as Liverpool lured him on a free transfer.
However, Liverpool fans are eagerly awaiting the return of their Brazilian Alisson who arrived at the club last summer from AS Roma in a then-record deal worth £60 million as the most expensive goalkeeper.
The most recent reports claim that Alisson is set to train with the goalkeeping coach at Melwood today, and they will reintroducing him to the normal training with the first team later this week. If all goes according to plan, the 26-year-old could return for Liverpool’s massive trip to Old Trafford on October 20th to face Manchester United.
The games this week against Salzburg and Leicester City might come too early for the Alisson, but with the international break next week, the encounter with Manchester United seems the ideal time for his return.
Alisson played a key role in helping Liverpool win the Champions League title last season and also won the Golden Glove in the Premier League.
