Injury Update

Liverpool Receive Alisson Boost

Liverpool shot-stopper Alisson Becker has revealed he is close to returning to full fitness from the calf injury that had sidelined him for almost seven weeks.

The Brazilian resumed outdoor training drills earlier this month and is now focused on regaining his full range of athleticism ahead of a return to action after sustaining an injury on the opening day of the Premier League season against Norwich City.

Alisson went down during Liverpool’s season opener against Norwich City at Anfield after taking a goal kick and he limped off the pitch, forcing the European champions to field new signing Adrian into the spotlight between the posts. The 26-year-old was a key component to Jurgen Klopp’s team which won the continental trophy as well as play every single game for Liverpool in the Premier League as they finished second on the table.

However, the newly crowned Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year has admitted that he is close to making his comeback in the near future.

While speaking to the clubs official website, Alisson said that he is nearly back to full fitness, “I’m in a good way, I think we are nearly there, I can go outside to the pitch to do some goalkeeper work and I feel very well. I feel confident and I think now it’s just about getting all my power, all my confidence to come back and do what I love to do.”

Alisson also explained that it was quite a serious injury which wasn’t able him to walk properly but he is delighted with the progress that he is making now, “It’s massive because if I look back, two weeks ago I couldn’t even walk properly, Now I’m running [and] jumping on my right leg that was injured, so I’m really happy for that. It’s great. When you are a player you want to have the contact with the ball, with the guys on the pitch, the routine of training. It’s what I love to do.”
