Atletico Madrid make contact with Liverpool for signing Roberto Firmino

Atletico Madrid have reportedly made contact with Liverpool for signing Roberto Firmino who has been one of the top performers this season for an otherwise under-fire Reds side.

The Brazilian’s emergence as a bright spark in the Liverpool front line, with his six goals and three assists in seven league outings so far, have not gone unnoticed with Europe’s biggest clubs taking an interest in his services.

According to a report from TeamTalk, it is claimed that the Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone is keen to move in for Firmino and has stepped up his efforts to land the signature of the 31-year-old Premier League star.

Firmino’s future in the summer had been the subject of much talk with rumours arising that Liverpool were open to parting ways with the forward after splashing the cash on club record signing Darwin Nunez’s recruitment from Benfica.

Jurgen Klopp, however, did not give his nod to Firmino’s move away from Anfield ahead of the 2022-23 campaign with the latter still an important figure in the Liverpool camp seven years into his joining the club.
