Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City keen to move in for Liverpool defender Ben Davies

Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City are understood to be keen to move in for Liverpool defender Ben Davies who is yet to make his first top flight outing for Jurgen Klopp’s side since arriving in January 2021.

Davies was signed during the injury crisis at Anfield towards the backend of the 2020-21 campaign but the former Preston North End man did not seem to feature in Klopp’s long-term plans.

He was shipped out on loan last season to Sheffield United who are unlikely to position themselves as suitors for the central defender this summer with the Blades eyeing up Jack Robinson and Ciaran Clark instead.

According to Sky Sports News, however, Davies has the likes of Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City chasing his signature and it is understood that the player has been left out of Liverpool’s pre-season squad that jetted off to Thailand earlier this week.

With Liverpool handing a long-term extension to the England international Joe Gomez, Klopp has four quality options in the centre-back role which could see the Liverpool head coach deem Davies surplus to requirements sooner rather than later.
