Bournemouth closing in on signing Liverpool centre-back Sepp van den Berg

Bournemouth are reportedly closing in on signing Liverpool’s young centre-back Sepp van den Berg in a season-long loan deal, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

Van Den Berg gained valuable senior team action during his loan spell at Preston North End last term with the Dutch defender registering 50 appearances across all competitions to emerge as a much-experienced player.

His return to the Liverpool fold this summer, however, does not indicate that the boss Jurgen Klopp would be keen on retaining his services with the 20-year-old far down the pecking order at Anfield in the centre-back role.

Another loan stint away from Merseyside could further aid Van Den Berg’s development with the former PEC Zwolle starlet likely to come out as a star for the future in the Liverpool defensive ranks.

Liverpool tied down England international Joe Gomez, who had his future subject to much speculation since the turn of the year, to a long-term deal with the 25-year-old set to provide increased competition for the berths in the heart of the backline.
