Burnley want to sign Liverpool youngster Sepp van den Berg on loan

Burnley want to sign Liverpool youngster Sepp van den Berg on loan this summer with the centre-back attracting interest from German clubs as well.

The 20-year-old central defender enjoyed a successful 18-month loan spell at Preston North End that saw him make 66 appearances in all competitions over a season and a half playing in England’s second flight.

According to a report from The Athletic, Van Den Berg has been earmarked as a top name on the shopping list at Turf Moor with the new Burnley boss Vincent Kompany keen to move in for the Liverpool teenage talent.

Liverpool do not have any lack of quality options in the centre-back role for the newly commenced campaign with the Reds also tying down the England international Joe Gomez to a new long-term deal on Merseyside.

Ibrahima Konate has proven to be a viable name on the team sheet following his fantastic debut campaign in England with Liverpool following his 2020 summer move to Anfield from RB Leipzig.
