Diogo Jota signs a new long-term contract with Liverpool

Portuguese international Diogo Jota has put pen to paper on extended terms with Liverpool who reward the forward with a lucrative deal after his flying start to life at Anfield.

Jota signed for Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 for a £45 million transfer fee and he adapted to the Reds style of play in an instant fashion with a stellar run of displays in front of the goal.

The 26-year-old has netted 34 goals in his 85 outings in all competitions and has emerged as an influential performer in the star-studded Liverpool forward lineup which boasts of the likes of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

A statement from Liverpool’s official website confirmed that Jota had signed a new long-term deal at Anfield and committed his future to the club ahead of the start of the new top-flight campaign this coming weekend.

Jota, who is serving a brief spell on the sidelines with an injury picked up in the pre-season tour, will not feature in the opening day clash against the Premier League new boys Fulham.
